The Liberal Revolution of 1820 (Portuguese: Revolução Liberal) was a Portuguese political revolution that erupted in 1820. It began with a military insurrection in the city of Porto, in northern Portugal, that quickly and peacefully spread to the rest of the country. En este ensayo el autor se propone presentar las grandes lineas o los momentos decisivos de la historia del liberalismo, que constituye la corriente primera y principal y, por asi decirlo, el bajo El liberalismo económico fue un conjunto de teorías y prácticas que sirvieron para consolidar el poder de la alta burguesía. Estas prácticas fueron en gran medida consecuencia de la Revolución Industrial. Estas teorías preconizaban, fundamentalmente, la no intervención del estado en cuestiones económicas, financieras y empresariales.

Den svenska liberalismens historia Norberg Johan Bokbörsen

Ordet liberal började användas i sin nuvarande politiska betydelse omkring 1820. Den första att använda ordet i denna betydelse var Benjamin Constant. Det kommer av latin liberalis, som betyder "värdig en fri människa", med mera. Detta motsvarar ganska väl det svenska ordet "frisinnad".
